Let me introduce myself

It's nice to know who it is that you are spending your online time reading their words.

So please let me introduce myself. As the name suggests, I am Bec Patterson Photographer from Brisbane Australia.

I took my first portrait when I was little, it was a photo of my neighbour and a kitten we had. She posed side on with the kitten held up to her face and I still have the photo.

My mum took me to the store to drop in my roll of film and then paid the $27 so a week later I could see the photos I had taken. I was beyond thrilled that of the 19 pictures we got back, most were somewhat clear and not blurry.

The first gift I ever bought my husband was a camera.

Stopping time and stowing away memories has always been me. I want to share the beauty of people, their most genuine self with those who love them. Their story as it will be told based on the memory a photo can create, and if I am totally honest it's not always the same memories.

I grew up in the country with dogs, horses, cats, cattle and goats. Then all the critters that lived beyond. It was a the perfect place for me to learn how to see beauty. It wasn't always traditional beauty, sometimes you had to think on it to search it out but beauty is always there.

Now a mum of two kids who have had far too many photo's of them taken of them, I cherish and can tell you exactly what we were doing in each and every one of them.

It takes me back to each of their stages as if time travelling is possible.

Photography means to me what heirlooms mean to other people.

I live to stop time.

I live to allow other people to be able to cherish the ability travel back in time.

To take in all that sits within my lens so that the face in front of me will forever be remembered and the story telling of their live will go on.

Being a Portrait Photographer my day to day is what you dream of, learning of the experiences and adventures through the life stories of my clients and all of these experiences take me on new adventures every single day.
